Writing is about Depth, Not Reach
I’ve been writing online for about 3 years under the name Path To Manliness. 67,000 people follow me on Twitter. I’m a prolific writer and a prolific reader. The two go hand in hand. And as I watch writers come and go, those who fail have one thing in common. Their main purpose for writing is to reach more people.
Writing isn’t about reaching as many people as possible. It’s about self-discovery.
This is where most people go wrong. Many will strive for going viral.
Viral content is overrated.
I know how to go viral. It’s fun. Your phone blows up with notifications. Mute those. It’s terrible for your mental health.
This tweet blew up and reached 85,000 people in less than a day. I gained 100 followers or so but it’s not that helpful. And the sales tweet below that viral tweet got $0 sales. Going viral is overrated.

This thread that I wrote performed well too, but it also produced results. I gained 333 followers the day I shared it. More than double my typical day. And this thread generated sales.
